Overview

FE Test Prep ("we", "us") is a web-based study tool for the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering exam. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

Data Stored on Your Device

Most study progress, streaks, exam history, flashcard progress, and NCEES diagnostic scores are stored locally in your browser using localStorage so the app can work offline.

• Study progress and statistics
• Exam results and topic performance
• Flashcard spaced repetition state
• Dark mode and discipline preferences
• License key (stored locally for offline access)

If you clear your browser data, your local copy is permanently deleted unless you exported it or synced it to your account.

Cloud Sync, License Keys & Payments

If you purchase access, activate a license key, or use cloud sync, we store the minimum account data needed to keep your access working across devices. This can include your email address, license key, purchased discipline, activation history, and synced profile/progress data associated with your account.

Payments are processed by Stripe on the web and Google Play Billing in the Android app. We do not store credit card numbers or full billing details. We may store purchase metadata such as product, order identifiers, payment status, and the email address associated with your purchase. See Stripe's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.

Cloud Sync & Push Notifications

If you use cloud sync, we store a server-side copy of your study profile so you can restore progress on another device. If you opt into push notifications, we store your push subscription details, email address, discipline, and notification preferences so we can send study reminders and milestone alerts.

Email Updates, Free Practice & Lead Magnets

If you choose to enter your email for free practice results, handbook guides, discounts, or study updates, we store your email address, selected discipline, signup source, and the minimum diagnostic summary needed to send the requested resource. For free practice, this may include your score and weak-topic labels, but not payment information or sensitive personal identifiers. Outbound email is sent through Resend.

You can skip optional email forms and still use the free practice score flow. Marketing or update emails are sent only when you opt in, and you can unsubscribe or ask us to remove your email by contacting us.

Analytics & Advertising

We use the following services to understand how the site is used, improve performance, and support free study-guide content:

• Google Analytics (GA4) — Collects anonymized page view and usage data (pages visited, session duration, device type, approximate location by country). Google Analytics uses cookies. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Vercel Speed Insights — Collects anonymized web performance metrics (page load times, Core Web Vitals). No cookies are used. See Vercel's documentation.
• Google AdSense — Some blog and study-guide pages may display ads served by Google. AdSense may use cookies or similar technologies to measure ad performance and personalize ads where allowed. See Google's advertising policies.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may place and read cookies on your browser or use web beacons, IP addresses, or similar identifiers as a result of ad serving and measurement on supported pages. Learn more about how Google uses data when you use partners' sites or apps.

We do not sell your data to third parties. Analytics and advertising data are used to improve the site and support content creation.

Cookies

We use a limited set of cookies and browser storage technologies:

• Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) — for anonymized usage analytics
• Google AdSense cookies — to serve and measure ads on supported pages
• Local storage — to save your offline progress, preferences, and license state in the app

Data We Collect

• Email address when you purchase, activate a license, request support, request a free resource, enable cloud sync, or opt into notifications
• Optional free-practice diagnostic summaries, such as score, selected discipline, weak-topic labels, and requested study-plan resources
• Study profile and progress data when cloud sync is enabled
• License, activation, and purchase metadata needed to enforce access
• Push subscription metadata if you enable notifications

Data We Do NOT Collect

• Credit card or full payment details (handled entirely by Stripe or Google Play)
• Government IDs, Social Security numbers, or similar sensitive personal identifiers
• Personal profile information beyond what you choose to provide for account, sync, or support purposes

Children's Privacy

FE Test Prep is intended for engineering students and professionals. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
